Autism Testing

Have you or your child been struggling with reading social cues, anxiety when plans change, or repetitive behaviors?

Have you or your child been having difficulties with changes in routine, sensory sensitivity, or making connections with others?

Have you been told that you or your child may benefit from Autism testing?

As awareness of neurodiversity grows, we also see an increase of information and personal experience sharing about autism. Autism is a neurological developmental condition that presents itself in various ways. Previously, Asperger's syndrome was commonly discussed as a diagnosis by itself. Now we refer to various symptoms of Autism as on the spectrum of Autism or Autism spectrum. Given that Autism is a neurological condition, it requires a comprehensive neuropsychological testing for psychologists to make diagnostic impressions.

At Sunburst Psychology, we offer Autism testing to help you gain insight about you or your child's neuropsychological functioning. The more we understand you or your child's unique strengths and challenges, the better we can identify resources and strategies to help you or your child to thrive in this modern society.

You can find detailed information below about our Autism testing service. If you cannot find answers to your questions, please don’t hesitate to email us.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our comprehensive autism evaluation is $3,390. If you would like a combined autism and ADHD evaluation, the package is $5,300. Both packages include all testing sessions, the written report, and a feedback session to review the results.

  • Depending on the complexity of the case, a typical report is completed within 2 to 4 weeks after all tests are administered. For more complicated cases — for example, complex differential diagnoses or extensive collateral review — the report may take 4 to 6 weeks.

  • Yes. Once testing is complete, we schedule a feedback session to review the report with you, or with parents if the client is a young child. After the feedback session, the full written report is available to download from your secure client portal, and you can use it to request accommodations at school, work, or elsewhere.

  • We test clients ages 3 through 65, including children, adolescents, and adults.

  • No. We are a private-pay practice, so no physician referral is required. You can contact us directly to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.

  • A real evaluation is a comprehensive understanding of how your brain functions — a neuropsychological testing process that looks at the full depth of your functioning and wellbeing. An online screener is self-report only. It does not offer clinically accurate insight and cannot account for lived experience, cultural background, or other factors that matter for an accurate diagnosis.

  • No. We are a private-pay practice. We provide detailed superbills that clients can submit to their insurance to utilize out-of-network benefits. Many clients also use HSA or FSA funds to cover testing.

  • Testing is an objective understanding of how the brain functions — it provides in-depth information about oneself. Therapy is clinical treatment — it helps you understand your in-depth subjective experience and find a way to live a life that feels more at peace and thriving. Many clients do both, often starting with testing for clarity and then using therapy to apply what they learned.
