My Approach
I believe that healing requires a holistic understanding of the person beyond their struggles. Each experience we have adds to or creates new aspects of our identity, and as such, each person’s mental health journey is distinct and powerful. I strive to create both a brave space where I am transparent and honest, and clients also feel comfortable expressing themselves authentically. Through a relational/psychodynamic lens, I seek to help my clients understand the impact of their past on their present, while emphasizing how change in the here and now can affect the future. I recognize that your life doesn't happen in a bubble, and neither do your struggles. I’m deeply committed to understanding how the world around you shapes your experience and your mental health. I also acknowledge that one’s mental health journey is not a linear process. Life is constantly moving in different directions simultaneously, and there is not one set path to healing. My goal as a therapist is to walk with you along this path step by step as you find your own steady pace and build the capacity to thrive.
How it is like working with me
Therapy doesn’t have to be scary, or consistently doom-and-gloom. I know that this prospect holds people back from seeking therapy in the first place. However, I believe that part of healing is integrating new perspectives with the strengths you already have. I always encourage my clients to discuss their hobbies and special interests, as I know joy is just as important in healing as processing negative experiences. As such, many of my sessions involve jokes and laughter, which can be just as grounding as breathing techniques. No matter who you are or what you bring to therapy, being you and having fun is a strength I intend to highlight to the max!
